Grand Rapids (WZZM) - For anyone with cancer, who has had surgery or a disease like Sickle Cell, the need for blood can be great.
That's why dedicated donors are important to organizations like Michigan Blood. However, of those donors, only a small percentage are African American.
Michigan Blood has teamed up with West Michigan churches and organizations to educate people on the importance of diversifying the blood supply.
Dr. Tammon Nash talks about the program. Click on the video link to watch the segment.
