Facial exercises that stop wrinkles
It's the holiday season and you want to look your best - so why not try a few facial exercises to help spruce you up!
This is a new and old trend. In the 1940’s and 50’s women used to do this all the time. Now, it’s coming back in fashion as a way to replace Botox and fillers, yet still make you look younger.
The theory is your muscles are the foundation for your skin. If you're muscles are saggy, your skin will be saggy. This theory is supported by some beauty and exercise experts who say it works.
However, there are some experts who say facial exercises don't work because there has been no clinical research to support it. Some say overusing your facial muscles can cause wrinkles, which is why we get them around our eyes, mouth and forehead. One of the reasons why Botox works is because it relaxes your muscles and keeps them from creating wrinkles.
Here are three moves to try:
1. Place three fingers horizontally above your eyebrows and firmly press in and down. Now, raise your eyebrows and hold for 5 seconds. You should do 10 reps.
2. Place three fingers horizontally across each cheek bone. Press firmly and smile as hard as you can and squint your eyes. hold for 5 seconds. You should do 10 reps.
3. Place your fists under your chin and press your elbows against your chest. Use your fists to create resistance and slowly push your jaw toward your chest with your mouth closed. Hold for 5 seconds and do 10 reps.
