Nutrition, burgers and groceries are teaming up at area Meijer stores.

Performance Inspired Nutrition (PI) and Wahlburgers have partnered with Grand Rapids-based Meijer to bring nutrition products and burger locations to their stores.

Mark Wahlberg, actor and producer, co-founded and developed PI along with Tom Dowd, a health and wellness retail industry veteran. He also, along with brothers Donnie and chef Paul, founded the Wahlburgers chain, which has three metro Detroit locations.

Mark Wahlburg will make appearances Friday kicking off the partnership at these Meijer stores in the Detroit area:

PI’s all-natural, high-performance sports nutrition and lifestyle products will be available at all Meijer locations starting next year.

“Today’s supermarket customers want quality, clean nutrition to support their active lifestyle and overall wellness, and they don’t want to make a separate stop to find meaningful sports nutrition products. Convenience wins in today’s retail world," Dowd said in a written statement.

Additionally, we speak to customers differently and we don’t mislead customers with bodybuilder marketing hype or paid endorsers. We use real customers."

Besides adding Wahlburger locations at various existing and future Meijer lots, the company said it plans to bring their new food trucks to select Meijer stores.

The trucks feature a selection of the most popular Wahlburgers’ menu items, including Mark Wahlburg’s favorite, the year-round Thanksgiving Day Sandwich.
