Four football teams represent West Mich. at Ford Field, three take home state titles

Four West Michigan high school football teams took to the field this weekend and competed for state titles. 

Here is a rundown of the teams that won and links to more extensive coverage:

Muskegon overpowered Farmington Hills Harrison

The Big Reds dominated this season with a perfect 14-0 record. This is Muskegon's sixth state title, but the first one since 2008. 

The final score was 28-10.

Grand Rapids West Catholic topples Swan Valley

The West Catholic Falcons took home their fifth consecutive state title, tying the state’s longest consecutive streak.

The final score was 34-7. 

Grand Rapids Catholic Central beats Edwardsburg

GRCC successfully defended their Division 4 state title. The win was a team effort, but senior Nolan Fugate did not disappoint. He rushed for 306 yards and four touchdowns to pace the Cougars. 

The final score was 42-31. 

Saugatuck represented West Michigan, but lost to Pewamo-Westphalia

Saugatuck played hard, but ultimately lost to Pewamo-Westphalia for the Division 7 title. The Indians were also the state runner-ups in 2010. 

The final score was 21-0.
