Grandwich 2017 has an official winner!
This year, 33 local businesses signed up for the competition. Competitors must come up with a fresh, new sandwich that has never been on their menu before.
The annual judges tour happened on Thursday, July 27.
Blue Dog Tavern came away with top honors for its "The West Side Juicy Johnny." It is made on a custom rye bun from Nantucket Bakery and contains caramelized Michigan apple and onion sauce, house made smoked bacon kapusta, charred scallion sour cream, fried pierogi from "Polish Girl Catering," red dragon stone ground cheese from "The Cheese Lady" and fresh ground kielbasa from "Franks Market."
Head Chef Johnny Birto and Chef Amanda Rodgers stopped by My West Michigan to celebrate their win.
You can try the winning burger at the Blue Dog Tavern located at 638 Stocking Avenue NW in Grand Rapids.
