FILIPINO “PAROL” LANTERN CELEBRATION – PARADE AND CEREMONY - Friday, December 15, 5:30 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.
We are bringing the first Filipino “Parol” Lantern tradition to Downtown Grand Rapids. Join us on a short 0.2 mile sidewalk parade. Meet us at Old National Bank Downtown Grand Rapids (Monroe Ave, across from Rosa Parks Circle) at 5:30pm, and together let’s walk to the Sister-Cities Promenade, at the corner of Louis and Pearl (JW Marriott and in front of the Amway Grand Plaza) Right after the parade, we will be lighting the special lanterns, and carolers will be singing Filipino Christmas songs. Special songs by a Philippine Madrigal singer, and short messages from leaders: “How Filipinos celebrate Pasko (Christmas)”

UGLY SWEATER HOLIDAY KARAOKE PARTY - Saturday, December 16, 8 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Sing to celebrate the season – and to support MomsBloom! Join us for a festive evening of karaoke at Eastern Avenue Hall to benefit MomsBloom, an organization that provides practical and emotional support to mothers of new babies. For nearly 10 years, MomsBloom has been sending well-trained volunteers to the homes of families with newborns – helping to connect moms with resources to prevent and treat postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders. Celebrate the more than 1,000 families we’ve served, and help us continue to serve more, laying the groundwork for strong families and a strong community!
Family-friendly karaoke will be offered 8 – 10 p.m., with standard karaoke after 10 p.m. open to those 21 and up. Don’t forget your ugly sweater!
Each song you sing will be $5, or $10 for a “fast pass” to sing sooner! Buy your ticket in advance on Eventbrite to receive one song for free!

Sample different teas, make unique crafts, and shop the GRAAMA museum store with your family this Sunday. There will be collections of both modern and vintage black dolls and toys from local collectors for you to view. Join us to learn about the enriching history of black dolls and toys. There will also be live storytelling to enjoy along with the opportunity to take a picture with a live Shades So Sweet Doll! This is a family event for everyone and all ages.
