Most survivors of severe burn injuries, as well as their family members and friends, can experience psychological distress.  We talked about it with Dr. Amy Spencer, a Spectrum Health critical care surgeon, and Mary Osborn, a Nursing technician and parent of a burn victim.  They explained what "burn trauma" is all about and described the upcoming Phoenix Society World Burn Congress 2016.

The annual international conference brings together 900 burn survivors, their families, caregivers, burn care professionals, and firefighters.   This year, there will be a live streaming event in Grand Rapids on Friday, October 21, 2016 for community members who are unable to make it to the full conference.

This event is broadcast live to Spectrum Health at the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center.  Registration is free! To register, visit the Phoenix Society website  or call 1-800-888-2876.
