It's March and that means we're in the home stretch of winter. If that thought doesn't bring you out of your winter hibernation, this event might!

Coming up on March 7, there's a panel called "Spring Awakening: Get Up, Get Out, Get Moving." It offers strategies to renew your energy level and beat the winter blues.

Experts say the natural tendency of people in northern climates to conserve energy in cold, dark, winter months can be difficult to shake, even as daylight and temperatures begin to increase.

Organizers say "Spring Awakening" is designed to help bring you out of your winter hibernation. A unique panel will provide ideas and strategies to renew your energy level, develop healthy sleep patterns, improve breathing, increase movement, and experience nature. This session is part of a larger Spring series at Aquinas College.

Universal Health Solutions, a locally-based organization dedicated to exploring and discussing integrative health and medicine, will host its 2017 Spring Speaker Series in Grand Rapids at The Donnelly Center at Aquinas College on March 7, 14, 21, and 28. This 4-part series is designed to introduce West Michigan residents to complementary and alternative health care treatments and some of the local professionals who provide them.

Individuals are invited to come learn about ways to emerge from winter hibernation through healthy sleep habits, reconnecting with nature, and renewing energy levels; natural ways to alleviate allergies; the full scope of essential oils; and stress in children - how to recognize it and simple, prescription-free ways of addressing it.

All sessions are open to the public and will run 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required. You can reserve your seats online at
