Senior Wellness: Caregivers taking time to care for themselves

Being a caregiver to a loved one can be a stressful job, and could even take a toll on the caregiver's health -- be sure to care for caregivers.

It's not easy caring for a loved one and sometimes, the stress of the job can take a toll on the health of a caregiver.

Sarah Sobel from the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan came to the WZZM 13 Studios to talk about how caregivers can help themselves, and by extension, help their loved ones.

The AAAWM's Family Caregiver University is hosting a class on Thursday, Dec. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. on how to be mindful and finding calmness as a caregiver.

The class will be at the AAAWM, which is on Eaglecrest Drive in Grand Rapids and there is a $5 suggested fee per class, which is payable at the door. You must register to join, email registration@aaawm.org or call 616-222-7032.

Caregivers can find even more resources at the AAAWM's website or www.caregiverresource.net
