Kevin has been through some difficult times, so he relies on his faith to guide him.
He’s involved with his church and takes pride in being a Christian. “He says that he knows a lot about the Bible, and that it is important to him to continue to have a relationship with the church,” says Kevin’s worker.
Kevin has another faith of sorts. He likes baseball and follows the Detroit Tigers. However, don’t ask him to answer the team’s marketing question, “Who’s Your Tiger?” He’s not ready to commit to one just yet because Kevin likes them all. In addition to being religious, Kevin describes himself as kind, caring and understanding.
Kevin’s favorite activities include camping and hiking. In fact, he loves spending time outdoors where he likes running, riding his bike, climbing trees and playing baseball. When he’s indoors, Kevin likes drawing and shows particular talent when doing illustrations of cars. When asked what he’s most proud of, Kevin says his drawing skills. Perhaps he’ll put those skills to work since Kevin wants to become an automotive engineer when he gets older.
If he could visit anywhere in the world, Kevin would travel to Russia. “I love exploring new places,” he says. This active young man wants a future forever family who enjoys the outdoors as much as he does.
Kevin has had the anguish of both trauma and disappointment, yet he tries to maintain a positive outlook. He receives services to help him process his past and develop better coping skills. In school, Kevin is on track and has no behavioral concerns at this time.
Kevin wants a mom and dad, a single father or a single mom. He would do best as the youngest child in his new forever family, but he does well with children his age or older. His new parent or parents would benefit from knowledge of the impact of trauma on a child.
Since Kevin has strong feelings about his faith, a family who shares his commitment to Christianity would be a good fit. His new forever family also must be strong advocates for the services that will help Kevin function at his best at home and in school.
Above all, Kevin needs a family who’s willing to make a strong commitment to him.
