Today's "One Good Thing" is the "20/20 Group."

It's a group of people - mostly from the Grandville area - who agree to donate $20 every month. When you get to 20 contributors, you have $400. Then, someone within the group - it's a random draw - donates all the money to someone or some cause.

There are three rules:

  1. You have to give it all away.
  2. It can't be to someone in the group.
  3. You have to share a summary of what you did with it. For that - they have a webpage.

Some of the recipients include families with a loved one fighting cancer; a woman trapped in a low-paying job in Trinidad & Tobago; a retired couple struggling with mounting medical bills; a church youth group to help them fund their mission work; the "Ella Foundation," which assists families impacted by miscarriages, stillbirth and infant loss; you get the idea.

They do amazing stuff with this money.

In six years, they've gone from 35 donors to 75, and have given away close to $70,000! By the year 2020, they want to be at 100 givers, and have given away $100,000.
