It's easy to feel overwhelmed and stressed, and new research shows that more of us are feeling that way.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found 8.3 million of us have high levels of stress, anxiety and depression to the point that there is a need for treatment or therapy.

Contributing factors including those who are still trying rebound financially from the great recession and also the effects of social media.

One of the ways to try and combat those feelings are by being more resilient. has come up with a few ways to do that:

  • Let someone go ahead of you in line
  • Be genuinely nice to someone who isn't nice to you
  • Forgive someone by showing it not saying it
  • Try not to complain for an entire day
  • Don't second guess a decision you've made for 24 hours

Being more resilient helps you bounce back from controversy quicker -- and research supports that the more flexible, proactive and problem solving you are, the better you are at handling life's challenges.
