Arson suspected after Grand Rapids church doors catch fire

When crews arrived on scene, the fire was already out.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating after it appears a fire was intentionally set at the doors of a church over the weekend.

Crews were called to Servant's Community Church just before 8 a.m. Sunday, April 22. The ATF is involved because the alleged crime happened at a place of worship.

Officials believe it's arson because there is no other reason for a fire to ignite at the front doors of the building.

When crews arrived on scene, the fire was already out. It was contained to the doors and likely burned itself out.

The fire remains under investigation. If you have any information, please call GRPD at 616-456-3400 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
