Former Detroit City Council president and ex-TV anchor Charles Pugh agreed to serve 5 1/2 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in exchange for three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct to be dismissed.

Pugh’s lawyer, Delphia Burton, confirmed her client plans to enter the plea during a hearing in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, saying he’s expected to plead guilty to two of the five charges he faces.

Pugh, 45, has been charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct, including three first-degree charges that carry a maximum life prison sentence and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Pugh would also have register for life on sex offender registry and receive sex offender counseling.
