Grand Rapids man headed back to prison for assaulting two people last summer

A Grand Rapids man who'd already spent time in prison on a weapons offense is headed back for assaulting two people last summer.

Jaquarius Littlejohn is headed back to prison.

The 24-year-old already spent time in prison for a weapons offense and was ordered back for assaulting two people at home on Newberry Street last summer.

Littlejohn shot a woman and attacked a man with a broken bottle during a home invasion last August. He was injured in the struggle with the stabbing victim and arrested after seeking treatment at a hospital.

He was charged last summer with armed robbery; home invasion; assault with intent to do great bodily harm (less than murder); felon in possession of a firearm; carrying a concealed weapon, and felony firearm.

On Tuesday, March 20, Littlejohn was back in court. Kent County Circuit Court Judge Donald Johnston called the case "bizarre."

"You did concoct a rather weird story of having been kidnaped and injured which, as indicated, clearly was not the case," Judge Johnston said in court. "Meanwhile, back on Newberry, you left behind a backpack which conveniently contained your identification documents."

Judge Johnston sentenced Littlejohn to between 10 and 20 years in prison for the August 2017 incident. He'll start serving that term after finishing a mandatory two years in prison for using a gun.
