Authorities say a man shot his wife and then fatally shot himself in southeastern Michigan.
Monroe County sheriff's officials say the woman, who had been shot in the neck, escaped the Berlin Township home early Saturday with her adult daughter and called 911.
Deputies evacuated the area and surrounded the home. They tried to speak with the man, but found him dead inside with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The woman was treated for injuries that weren't serious.
According to investigators, the woman was awoken by her husband before he shot her. She doesn't know why he did it.
