UPDATING BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Kent County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's assistance as they try to locate Jacob Abraham Savickas, a man believed to be responsible for a crime spree throughout both West Michigan and Indiana.
He is believed to be involved in six unarmed robberies and a bank robbery in Grand Rapids. He has several warrants out for his arrest including absconding from parole and a couple of larceny cases.
His description is as follows:
- White male
- 175 lbs
- Short brown hair
He drives a blue/purple 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue 4D with license plate #DNL1257. The suspect may have also been involved in some crimes in the City of Walker and City of Grand Rapids this morning- neither have been confirmed.
The 13 Watchdog team immediately started investigating this situation and found Savickas has been in trouble with the law before. He was convicted of first degree retail fraud in 2015 in Kent County. The Michigan Department of Corrections indicated Savickas entered prison in September 2015 and was paroled in October.
Since that time he's not obeyed the terms of his parole. He absconded in February of 2017 and was jailed in Newaygo County and released. Savickas absconded again in early July after committing several violations including not reporting to his parole officer, not informing his parole officer he had moved, consuming alcohol and receiving a ticket for open intoxication.
