Charges filed in Tuesday's shooting in Muskegon

Police in Muskegon are investigating a Tuesday night shooting they do not believe was a "random act."

Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson has authorized charges in connection to a shooting in Muskegon on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Theodis Crawford, 22, is expected to be charged with assault with intent to murder.

Crawford was arrested at Hackley Hospital Wednesday night after crashing his car. Muskegon Heights police chief cays the crash happened after his officers called off a chase.

A 39-year-old Muskegon man is recovering after the shooting. Police say it was not a "random" shooting.

It happened on March 20, around 11:30 p.m. at West Grand Avenue near 8th Street -- not far from Nelson Elementary School. Officers located the victim outside of a home in the area.

The man was taken to the hospital and treated for a gunshot wound. He was reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives with the Muskegon Police Department say this incident is under active investigation, and anyone with information should call the department at 231-724-6750 or Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.
