Authorities in Mecosta County are searching for a man and woman who attempted to steal more than $4,000 in merchandise from a Wal-Mart store.

According to a news release from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the Wal-Mart located on Perry Street in Big Rapids Township Friday evening, around 8 p.m.

Employees reported a retail fraud in progress, however, while deputies were in route to the store the two suspects -- a man and woman -- fled the area in a silver, passenger vehicle.

Two suspects are being sought in Mecosta County for trying to make off with more than $4,000 in merchandise frm a Wal-Mart, this is the vehicle they left the scene in Friday, Nov. 24.
The suspect vehicle is a silver, passenger van. 

The two suspects attempted to make off with $4,250 worth of merchandise. Security workers at the store were able to recover the items, however, the sheriff's office is still searching for the two. The sheriff's office provided photos and these descriptions:

  • Male suspect: Thin build, was wearing a white MSU ball cap.
  • Female suspect: Blonde hair, was wearing a red shirt.
