Representatives heard how GRCC is preparing students with in-demand skills that lead to careers.

The Michigan House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Community Colleges held a hearing on Friday, March 9, at Grand Rapids Community College's Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center.

The subcommittee, chaired by state Rep. Chris Afendoulis, learned more about Grand Rapids Community College and its work in West Michigan -- specifically, professional trades education.

Representatives heard how GRCC is preparing students with in-demand skills that lead to careers.

The representatives also toured the college's The Fountain Hill Brewery, where GRCC students work toward a craft brewing, packaging and service operations certificate.
