Representatives from Consumers Energy say a failed cross arm is to blame for an outage that affected four substations and thousands of customers overnight.
The outages, which occurred in eastern Allegan and western Barry County, began late Monday, June 26.
Customers in Wayland, Middleville, Hastings, Shelbyville, Delton, Martin and Plainwell were affected.
According to Consumers Energy spokesperson Terry DeDoes around 7,740 customers were without power when the outage was reported. Throughout the night, that number dwindled.
DeDoes says power is expected to be back on around 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 27.
