Hundreds of families flocked to Grand Rapids Community College Saturday to take part in the Community Science Day.
There were more than 30 different activities for scientists of all ages to experience from experiments to projects and tours.
The event was organized by students, staff and faculty from GRCC's biological sciences, physical sciences, exercise science, dental assisting, nursing, radiologic technology and occupational therapy programs.
Leigh Kleinert, anatomy and physiology professor, said the activities are just as rewarding for the GRCC students who volunteer as they are for the community.
"Community Science Day is a great way for students to apply what they are learning in class while giving back to their community," she said. "Plus they earn a service recognition certificate to use in their portfolio. It's a win-win for our students and the community!"
