High winds on Thursday caused a large tree limb to fall on a mother and two young children, police say.

Grand Rapids Police responded to a call around 10:15 a.m. that people were under a large tree that had fallen in Riverside Park.

Witnesses say many Good Samaritans helped pull the children from underneath the tree and called police for help, including a tree company that was shooting for a documentary with a Swedish television crew.

"She was bleeding for her head but everyone was so helpful and the tree cutting company was here so that was so amazing so they knew what to do," a crew member told us. "But she was under there for quite a while and her kids they were sitting with the other women and everyone, it was horrible."

The three suffered minor injuries -- they were transported to the hospital for treatment, but are expected to be okay.

We have reached out the City of Grand Rapids in hopes to learn who is responsible for a situation like this, however, we have not heard back yet.
