The Allegan County Health Department was notified by the sheriff's department that a doctor was performing liposuction surgeries inside of a pole barn.

According to officials, the building doesn't have a certificate of occupancy and is not approved for any business activities. It's located at 6990 144th Avenue in Glenn.

Police do not believe the appropriate biohazard standards were followed -- a complaint has been filed with the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

The Allegan County Health Officer Angelique Joynes, MPH, RN, advises that if you've had surgery at this site and have signs of infection, such as fever, redness and swelling -- you should see immediate medical care.
