Construction in the Ada Village will be kicking into high gear this week.
The biggest affect for most people will be the reconstruction of Ada Drive. Starting Wednesday, March 15, Ada Drive will be closed in both directions between Fulton and Headley streets.
The township supervisor says the closure is necessary to raise the road. "They're gonna raise it in some places approximately 8 feet to get it out of the flood plains, so we don't have floods like we did in 2013 that have a potential of endangering businesses and flooding out businesses," said George Haga.
Those businesses in the Ada Village will remain open during the months long construction project.
Township leaders are putting signs up so drivers know where to go.
Businesses we talked to say loyal customers will help keep them successful. "They have great followings for these businesses and I looked at a map, it's about 1500 feet is all we're asking people to travel around the Ada Drive reconstruction and I know those businesses will do well," said Ken Dixon.
The project is expected to cost more than $2 million.
Phase one of construction should be complete by May with the entire project wrapping up in August.
