ArtPrize Eight entries are being installed this week ahead of Wednesday’s start date and if you’re walking the downtown streets you may notice big art is making a big comeback this year.
“The unpredictable nature of ArtPrize leaves us not knowing what is going to show up each year,” said Katie Moore, ArtPrize Exhibitions Manger. “Which is fun, but this year we want to guarantee some awesome exterior art.”
This is the first year a Featured Public Projects grant was awarded. The $55,000 was divided among four renowned artist, including DeWitt Godfrey, Christopher Schardt, W/Field Workshop and FriendsWithYou.
The four pieces are located in Calder Plaza, Ah-Nab-Awen Park, the Grand River and the Gillett Bridge.
The HUB or headquarters for ArtPrize Eight officially open its doors to the public on Saturday, Sept. 17.
