Salem and Shelby are also new to the Binder Park Zoo.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety says that what appears to be a news article titled "3 African lions escape Binder Park Zoo" is fake.

In a Facebook post, police say they were getting calls about a social media post from a website that appears to be CBS News, but it is actually cbsnews.us, which is a fake news generator.

It alleges that three lions escaped from Binder Park Zoo and Harper Creek is on lockdown. Police emphasized that Harper Creek High and Middle School is not on lockdown.

"No animals are missing and all lions are accounted for," said police. "This was just a malicious rumor and bogus story. There is no cause for alarm."
