A warrant is being sought for a Battle Creek man, 23, after Battle Creek police were called to the 100 block of Cherry Street at 2 p.m. Thursday.

An 18-year-old woman told officers she and her boyfriend and children were living in a house on the block but were told to leave by the owners.

She said the owner, 25, was yelling at them because they were not moving quickly enough. As they were arguing, the woman said the owner told her he was calling people to make them move faster.

The woman said three men and a woman arrived and confronted her and one of the men pointed a handgun at her face and said, "I got a gun .... I'll put a bullet in you." She said she sprayed him with pepper spray and then he threatened her mom.

She said the man with the gun fired two or three shots into the ground and also hit her in the face with the handgun before all the people left.

The owner of the house said the woman and her boyfriend were allegedly mistreating her children so he ordered them out. He said the boyfriend was swinging a hammer and so he called some friends to help evict the couple.

He said the man fired the handgun into the ground because the woman was spraying people and her boyfriend swinging the hammer. He also said the woman displayed a handgun she had in her waistband.

Police found a .40 caliber shell casing at the scene but were unable to locate the man who had the gun.
