A Springfield woman has entered a plea after police said she left her child unattended in a car for an hour.
Shawntell Barlow, 42, pleaded no contest Thursday to a child abuse charge of leaving an unattended child in a car on Nov. 23.
Emmett Township police said they found the woman's 3-year-old daughter in a running car outside Walmart at 6020 B Drive North about 5:10 p.m.
The woman faced up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor.
A trial was scheduled for next week. In exchange for her plea, Assistant Calhoun County Prosecutor Rachel Delmont is recommending probation without any jail time.
Sentencing by District Judge Frank Line was not immediately set. Delmont and defense attorney Shelley Huffman also agreed that the no-contact order preventing Barlow from seeing her daughter would be lifted.
