A Detroit police officer was shot in the ankle Wednesday night and a second officer shot in the neck, police said.

The officers were rushed to Detroit Receiving hospital. Reports indicated the officers drove themselves to the hospital

Police swarmed Detroit's west side late Wednesday, apparently searching for the gunman.

Officers with long guns drawn and wearing heavy gear searched a neighborhood near 23rd and Ash, shining flashlights into the burned-out rubble of homes and taking a police dog. Ash was closed off.

Above, a helicopter shone a spotlight on the search area.

On the Detroit Police Department's Facebook page, police named a person of interest sought in the shooting. He was wearing tan pants and a tan shirt, police said. Anyone with information on him was asked to call police.

Michigan State Police reported Wednesday night that an arrest had been made in the case.

Several dozen Detroit Police cars and several Michigan State Police cruiser were on the scene and several blocks were blocked off.
