EGR Planning Commission approves new Blodgett parking structures

The East Grand Rapids city council will now have to decide if Spectrum can build the new parking structures at the Blodgett Campus.

The East Grand Rapids Planning Commission voted to approve two new parking structures at Spectrum Health's Blodgett Hospital at their meeting on Tuesday night, April 24.

The vote was 7-1.

The commission approved the plans despite concerns from residents that the parking structures will devalue their property—due to the height of the ramps and the several years of construction that would likely come with the project.

Now that the planning commission has approved the plans, the East Grand Rapids city council will make a decision on if the parking structures can be built. They plan on announcing this decision on May 7.
