The Salvation Army center in Grand Haven hopes to expand, but it needs the community's help.
On Thursday, April 13, leaders announced a fundraising effort to build a multi-purpose center.
The building would offer space for a number of different recreation programs and also include a commercial kitchen.
A number of donors have already made commitments to the campaign, now the Salvation Army is asking community members for support.
"We have raised $750,000 of our $1.1 million goal which is amazing," said Jay Davis, Capt. Salvation Army Grand Haven. "Thanks to donors and volunteers who have helped us in this project.
"We need $350,000 to get us over the finish line. We are asking the public the community those that support the mission and work of the Salvation Army to help us to invest in work to help others in need to make a difference in our community."
The building would be built at the east end of the current building.
If the campaign is successful, construction will begin in the fall of 2018.
