GoFundMe set up for Brann's banner variance application fee

Johnny Brann is applying for a zoning variance so that he can keep displaying banners that support law enforcement.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A GoFundMe page has been set up for Grand Rapids restaurant owner, Johnny Brann, who said that he will continue to display banners supporting police even though they violate a city ordinance.

The banners are hung on Brann's Steakhouse on Leonard Street NW, and they display messages of support for police and law enforcement.

The city says that the violation has nothing to do with the content of the banners, but there are too many on the establishment.

Brann said he will apply for a zoning variance, but if it's denied, he will not take down the displays.

The GoFundMe page was created to pay the application fee for the variance. It has raised more than $1700, and the goal was $1349.
