A three story Spectrum doctor's building in downtown Grand Rapids was evacuated for a potential hazardous material situation Tuesday afternoon.
Bruce Rossman of Spectrum "out of an abundance of caution" asked the fire department to clear the Helen DeVos Children's Outpatient Center at 330 Barclay NE on June 20.
They do not believe there was a spill of any kind, but a "funny smell" was reported in the building.
The acting Deputy Chief of the Grand Rapids Fire Department Ron Tennant said the situation stabilized about an hour later.
No injuries, hospital response ran smoothly- officials say. All other areas of the hospital running normally— Meghan Anne Bunchman (@MeghanBunchman) June 20, 2017
Crews on scene told WZZM 13 no injuries were reported.
Initial reports said the smell originated on the third floor of the outpatient center. The hazmat team brought in a "Super Sniffer" to help determine the cause.
The clinic reopened Wednesday morning.
