After a contentious battle, the Rapid has reached a new labor agreement with bus drivers and maintenance workers.

The three-year contract was agreed upon during the Rapid's Board of Directors meeting on Saturday Dec. 9.

The contract includes a three percent pay raise for all bus drivers and a three and a half percent pay raise for all maintenance employees in the first year of the agreement.

In the following two years, both will get a two percent raise annually. The Rapid will also pay 80 percent of all health insurance premiums for union workers, and it will determine a new contribution retirement plan.

The previous labor agreement expired in July 2015.
