Some lucky trick-or-treaters didn't just get candy on Halloween. The Geek Group on Grand Rapid's West Side gave out 250 free desktop computers to children under the age of 16.
There was a line outside the building before the event started, and all the computers were handed out in about an hour. Chris Boden founder and CEO of the Geek Group says it's important to give back to the community, "A huge hurdle for kids on the west side is simply just access to a computer, access to the internet and there's a lot of programs in place, like you can get internet access for $10 a month. 10 bucks a month, you can do that, but the computer is the hard part."
Boden says the computers are good for doing homework, writing papers, watching videos, internet and office type things.
