Police are looking for a suspect after an argument turned into violence on the city's west side early Saturday, July 15.

Around 2:15 a.m. officers were called out to 4th Street near the corner Stocking Avenue.

According to a lieutenant with GRPD, officers found a 29-year-old man whose head had been grazed by bullet. He refused medical treatment and would not cooperate with the investigation.

Officers did not find any shell casings or bullets at the scene, so they're not sure what type of weapon was used to attack the man.

Investigators say the shooting occurred when the suspect arrived in a vehicle, approached the victim and shot him. They say the suspect fled the scene in the vehicle, which is describe as a unknown colored SUV or minivan.

The incident is believed to have been result of argument that occurred earlier in the day between several people who knew each other.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20s.

Anyone with more information that move the investigation forward is asked to contact the GRPD's Major Case Team at 616-456-3400 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
