UPDATE: Power has been restored to most customers as of 5:45 p.m.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- If most people are spending time outside on this brilliant spring day, then perhaps a power outage won't be noticed.

At the very least, it's an inconvenience: Consumers Energy's outage map reports at least 1,680 residents without power on Grand Rapids' West Side as of 4:40 p.m. Power is expected to be restored around 6 p.m.

It's believed a blown transformer on Butterworth Street SW is the cause of the outage.
