It's finally starting to feel like fall around here, and you know what that means, there are a ton of leaves to rake! That's why the Greater Ottawa County United Way is searching for volunteers to rake leaves during their annual Rake-a-Difference Day coming up in November.

Shannon LaHaie, United Way's Director of Volunteerism, joined the Weekend Morning news team to explain more about this effort, and we do want to point out this particular event is just happening in Ottawa County on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12 from 9:00am to noon.

"In honor of Veteran's Day, United Way sponsors and coordinates this initiative, which brings volunteers together to help local people and neighborhoods that need help with fall clean up due to physical or financial limitations. Individuals, families, friends and groups are welcome to be a part of Rake-a-Difference," explained Shannon.

If you or someone you know needs help with raking—or if you wish to rake as an individual or a team contact Shannon LaHaie, United Way's Director of Volunteerism by sending an email to or by calling (616) 396-7811 ext. 206.
