Springtime baby boom at the Critter Barn in Zeeland

From baby goats and lambs, to baby bunnies, chicks and calves, the Critter Barn Educational Children's Farm in Zeeland is booming with new life.

It's officially spring and springtime on the farm means one thing -- lots of baby animals.

From baby goats to baby bunnies, chicks and calves, the Critter Barn Educational Children's Farm in Zeeland is booming with new life.

WZZM 13's Meredith TerHaar spoke with founder and owner Mary Rottschafer about what makes this time of year so special at the Critter Barn. Mary explained that a visit to the Critter Barn can be so helpful in teaching children about reproduction and how babies are born.

The Critter Barn will be open from April 2 through 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during Spring Break. Families are encouraged to come out during feeding time to help bottle feed the baby goats.

Mary will have a more exact feeding schedule as that week draws closer. Check here and here for more information about that and the other opportunities at the Critter Barn including the Running of the Lambs event.

Every year the Critter Barn invites the public to come out and witness the first time the lambs and their mothers run to the pasture for the first time. After watching them run, families can interact with all the sheep in the pasture. That's planned for the third Saturday in May.
