It's no secret that Lake Michigan is a great place to be on a hot, summer day. But further inland, an Ionia County community is offering something a little different and just as fun.

According to the Ionia Sentinel-Standard, the Jump Island waterpark opened at the Ionia State Recreational Area on June 9.

The park is built on Sessions Lake, which is south of the Ionia city limits and is about a 35-minute drive from downtown Grand Rapids.

According to Jump Island's website, it's "full of high energy that allows you to run, jump, and slide through beaches, lakes, and rivers."

The park is designed for people of all ages, but kids must be four feet tall (or 42 inches if they're accompanied by an adult).

The park features an inflatable iceberg, slides, and runways. The park has locations on the east side of the state, but this is its first park in West Michigan.
