Investigators with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety are looking into the death of a 4 year old who they say suffered some sort of physical trauma before dying.

Just after 5 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, officers were called out to Mt. Olivet Road near the corner of Clarin Street. They say the physical trauma the child suffered was apparent, but they did not elaborate in a release sent out early Monday, July 10.

Officers performed CPR on the child for more than 50 minutes, but they could not save the child.

A 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been arrested. Their names will be released when they're formally charged.

Two other children in the home have been placed in protective custody. The Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Lab are now looking into the case.

Anyone who has additional information is asked to call the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-337-8994 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
