KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- Jason Brian Dalton faces six counts of open murder, two counts of assault with intent to commit murder and eight counts of felony firearm.

"I would prefer to remain silent," Dalton told the judge during his arraignment Monday afternoon in Kalamazoo.

He showed no expression as the judge read the six murder charges with the names of the victims. Dalton allegedly told officers he "took people's lives" and had allegedly drove two separate vehicles Saturday night amid a shooting spree.

Each victim died from multiple gunshot wounds.
