A 25-year-old Kalamazoo man is in jail after police say he robbed another man at gunpoint in the city's downtown area.

It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday, April 9 on West Lovell Street near the corner of Burdick.

In a release, a Kalamazoo police lieutenant says the suspect threatened to shoot the man if he didn't turn over his wallet and keys. After the victim gave in, the suspect took off.

Thanks to the help of a police dog, officers found the suspect a few blocks away, crossing Park Street. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

The victim's keys and wallet were retrieved. No one was hurt.

The suspect has not been named. He is facing armed robbery and other felony charges.
