Kent County deputies are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man suspected of stealing more than $20,000 in liquor from stores over a three-month period.

Investigators say the man, possibly aided by others, has been hitting mid-size and large retailers that sell liquor since August. They say the suspect has been stealing different kinds of liquor, often brands considered "top-shelf" or "middle-shelf."

Deputies say the thefts have been at stores in and around Grand Rapids. Several different police departments are working with the sheriff's office on the investigation.

Detectives say the suspect and his associates have been seen using a variety of vehicles, but the most common description they've received is of an older-style, mid-size gold-colored SUV.

Anyone with information on the suspect and the thefts is asked to call the Kent County Sheriff's Office at 616-632-6100, or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
