UPDATE 7:20 P.M. Police are still looking for the suspect. The offender dropped the weapon at the scene, and he is believed to no longer be armed. But he is still considered dangerous.

All school personnel and students were escorted safely from Ross Park Elementary without incident.

The victim is a 23-year-old woman and is in stable condition.

UPDATE 4:40 P.M. Around 3:16 p.m. officers from the Norton Shores Police Department responded to a report of a woman who had been stabbed in the chest. The woman had a non-life threatening wound.

The victim claims that she walked out of her bathroom, and a man was in her kitchen. He grabbed a knife from the counter and stabbed her before fleeing on foot.

The suspect is a male, medium build wearing a mask, black zip-up hoodie and jeans.

A perimeter is set up around the area, and police are using a K9 to search the area. Ross Park Elementary is still on lockdown, and police are asking for residents in the area to remain inside their locked homes.

ORIGINAL STORY 4 P.M. The Norton Shores Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred on the 200 block of Aue Road.

The suspect left the area on foot, and the police department is setting up a perimeter.

Ross Park Elementary School has been placed in lockdown, and all residents in the area are asked to lock their doors and remain inside.

Police officers will escort daycare students from the building when their parents arrive.
