Road Commission: Farr Road in Fruitport will be fixed soon

The work is currently being done behind the scenes to fix a road damaged by a washout.

UPDATE, March 16: The Muskegon County Road Commission hopes to have Farr Road near Fruitport open to traffic by the end of next week. The road commission started working at the site this week, after they received DEQ permission to make repairs at the site.

FRUITPORT, Mich: After speculation from Fruitport residents, WZZM learned that the Road Commission's work to fix Farr Road is happening behind the scenes.

A new culvert is being ordered, and engineering and permit work to replace the failed culvert is underway.

Heavy rain washed away that section of the road last week. A section of Heights-Ravenna Road also remains closed.

The Road Commission hopes the material needed to fix both locations is in place sometime in the next three to five weeks. For now, detours are in place.
