A woman is recovering at an area hospital after a deer was hit by another vehicle and thrown through her windshield.

A vehicle heading north on Algoma Avenue NE south of 15 Mile Road NE hit a deer, sending it though the windshield of a southbound vehicle, according to a Kent County Sheriff's Department news release.

The crash happened just around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Another motorist stopped to help the woman, a Kent City resident, before emergency crews could respond.

Police say the woman was given care at the scene by local fire and medical personnel only to be taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
