Mackinac's Grand Hotel offers discounted weekend dates for fall

Plan your next trip to Mackinac Island now, while prices are down at the Grand Hotel.

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. - Mackinac Island's most extravagant hotel is offering guests a small gift — a chance to gallivant on the world's longest porch for less.

The Grand Hotel's has released its Pure Michigan package for fall, with available weekend dates starting on Sept. 29. Double occupancy rooms begin at $235 per person, which is quite the deal considering prices at the historic hotel range from $600 to upward of $1,500 a night.

Better yet, you can up the ante and stay two nights and get the second night 25 percent off, or stay two nights and get the third night half off.

The package includes a free round of golf on the property's 18-hole course (you still have to pay the cart fee), discount on ferry boat tickets, free admission to the Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum, breakfast and dinner in Grand Hotel's dining room.

Prices are subject to Michigan's 6 percent sales tax, 19.5 percent added hotel charge, 2 percent Mackinac Island assessment and a $8.50 per person baggage handling charge.

Non-guests, meanwhile, still have to pay $10 to stand on the porch.
