More body cameras are coming to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
This week the department placed an order for 19 additional units. We're told they'll be used by GRPD's Special Response Team.
The Special Response Team handles high risk situations, such as standoffs. Leaders at the department say the cameras have been beneficial.
"It gives a snapshot and a perspective for anybody that is looking into that investigation as well as the public to see what the officer is dealing with, so I think the benefit speaks for itself," says Deputy Chief Dan Savage.
The new cameras will cost around $15,000.
